This weird phenomenon is mostly observed in Arctic regions where permafrost is peculiar. The ground below permafrost has considerably higher temperature as compared to the surrounding atmospheric air creating living conditions for anaerobic bacterias.

8 Weird Phenomenons Induced by Humans

The human involvement with the environment and climate is direct most of the times. Everyone is aware of pollution, its causes and effects but very less of us know that we are also affecting climate and global natural phenomenons. We are contributing to global warming which has resulted in climate change. The global temperature is increasing because of pollution, polar ice is melting raising the sea levels and weather pattern is changing that result in extreme events and weird phenomenons.

So, here in this list I’ll share 8 Weird Phenomenons that are induced by Humans directly or indirectly. I hope this post is thoughtful and awaring.

8 Weird Phenomenons induced by Humans

  1. Weird Hybrid Species

Weird Examples: Grolar and Prizzly – A hybrid of Grizzly Bear and Polar Bear; Wholpin – Killer Whale and Bottlenose Dolphin; Zebroid – Zebra and any equine

In the recent years, the cases of emergence of new species from hybridization have increased. Though there were many cases since the historical times yet the intensity has increased in the recent decades.

Explanation : In the recent years, the cases of emergence of new species from hybridization have increased. Though there were many cases since the historical times yet the intensity has increased in the recent decades. This bizarre weird phenomenon can be speculated because of climate change, destruction of wild habitats, developmental activities and emergence or introduction of predators or invasive species. All these factors forces an animal to move beyond its habitat into other suitable climatic regions resulting in in-breeding and crossbreeding, hence producing a new, weird looking creature.

2. Methane bubbles

Weird Examples : Methane bubbles creating great holes in Siberia; bubbles in Arctic lakes

This weird phenomenon is mostly observed in Arctic regions where permafrost is peculiar. The ground below permafrost has considerably higher temperature as compared to the surrounding atmospheric air creating living conditions for anaerobic bacterias.

Explanation : This weird phenomenon is mostly observed in Arctic regions where permafrost is peculiar. The ground below permafrost has considerably higher temperature as compared to the surrounding atmospheric air creating living conditions for anaerobic bacterias. Because of anaerobic respiration, methane is emitted in large quantities which then gets trapped in water bubbles of the permafrost, emitting out in large quantities when permafrost layer melts down. Environmentalists speculate that even a single degree increase in temperature could increase the methane production by 20%. Even under many instances, the methane bubbles explodes out creating weird giant holes in the ground.

3. Zig-zag formations on Ice Caps

Weird Examples : Weird alienated zig-zag lines over frozen Lake Thingvallavatn, Iceland

The weird phenomenon of formation of perfectly geometrical zig-zag lines is called Finger Rafting.

Explanation : The weird phenomenon of formation of perfectly geometrical zig-zag lines is called Finger Rafting. It can now be observed in the Arctic and Antarctic regions. The perfectly geometrical patterns are formed because of melting up of ice sheets by climate change. The thin ice sheets over frozen lakes moves over each other tearing up in weird geometrical patterns hence creating weird lines.

4. Disease Outbreak

Weird Examples : Malaria, Dengue, Cholera, Rotavirus, Zika virus and many others spread across the globe

With the increase in temperature pest population increases, as they thrive in warmer conditions, hence spreading out diseases that are known or unknown to mankind.

Explanation : Because of global warming, the climatic patterns have changed. The intensity of heat has increased over time which has even converted temperate regions into sub-tropical. With the increase in temperature pest population increases, as they thrive in warmer conditions, hence spreading out diseases that are known or unknown to mankind. According to WHO, with increasing temperatures there are evidence of more severe disease outbreaks. Even the duration of widespread of a disease is expanding through time as the suitable season for the pest remains for a longer period. Adverse climatic conditions and weird phenomenons like flash floods, earthquakes spreads more severe diseases like Rotavirus, Cholera, Zika virus in the affected places.

5. Cyclones and Tornadoes

Weird Examples : Atlantic Hurricane – Florence in 2018, Manghut in Eastern Pacific

With the increasing global warming and disturbances in climatic patterns, the intensities of cyclones and typhoons have increased over time.

Explanation : With the increasing global warming and disturbances in climatic patterns, the intensities of cyclones and typhoons have increased over time. According to scientists and environmentalists, although the number of such cyclones have decreased but the severity of each of them is enormous. This is attributed to more evaporation of the oceanic waters because of increased temperatures and curling up of different wind streams ending up in creating monstrous cyclones. Everytime when a cyclone or a hurricane hits an inhabited area, only devastation is left behind.

6. Heat Waves

Weird Examples : ‘Lucifer’ Heat wave across Mediterranean region in 2017, Heat wave of New South Wales, Australia in 2016-17

The increasing temperatures have created havoc across the globe. Every year maximum temperature strikes over a new benchmark. Normally, wind streams such as Western Disturbance and Jet Streams mixes cold air from polar regions with the warm equatorial one.

Explanation : The increasing temperatures have created havoc across the globe. Every year maximum temperature strikes over a new benchmark. Normally, wind streams such as Western Disturbance and Jet Streams mixes cold air from polar regions with the warm equatorial one. But as the polar ice is receding, so the cold front has weakened resulting in more hot winds. The weird phenomenon of heat waves have taken lives of many across the globe and threatened many others.

7. Dust Storms

Weird Examples : Weird phenomenon of Dust Storms in North India in May 2018 killing over hundreds

The Dust Storms are a result of mixing of dust and sand with high moving winds. The intensity of wind increases due to rise in temperatures.

Explanation : The Dust Storms are a result of mixing of dust and sand with high moving winds. The intensity of wind increases due to rise in temperatures. In India, Western Disturbances are responsible for moving most of the winds across India taking moisture laden winds along with it from the Bay of Bengal. The areas of intense heat pressurise these winds because of which they hit the place in full force, leaving destruction all around.

8. Wild-fires

Weird Examples : Wild-fires of Southeast Australia killing over hundreds every year, Wild-Fires of US, Northern Europe, India, and other countries

Global Warming and the resulting increase in temperatures across the globe have lead to heat waves

Explanation : Global Warming and the resulting increase in temperatures across the globe have lead to heat waves. The bushes and forests catches up fire from the heat waves, burning up everything that comes across its path resulting in loss of considerable resources.

It’s really scary to think about the impact that human activity is having on the environment. It’s even scarier how few people actually believe that we are a HUGE part of the problem. Sure we would be in a warming trend anyway, but not as quick and not as severe. It’s great that you’re getting the information out there. I’ve really noticed the higher temperatures where I live – we usually have a pretty moderate summer, but now it gets quite hot. And the wild fires are so prevalent that the sky is filled with smoke almost the entire summer.
