Also, three more species related to the same genus have been discovered last year as A. marianae, A. lynnae and A. caei.

It’s name derived from the Latin words ‘ossi’ meaning bony and ‘cruetum’ meaning bloody, which represents the bleeding parts of its berries when are cut open that become bony and hard with time.

Also named as the Bush Tomato, this species of Solanum was known to the native people of Australia for 50 years, and in 2017 the species was well researched and described to the world. It’s name derived from the Latin words ‘ossi’ meaning bony and ‘cruetum’ meaning bloody, which represents the bleeding parts of its berries when are cut open that become bony and hard with time.
