Billy and Me : How an animal changes your Life

One fine day, I was sitting in our garden with a couple of books and notebooks, preparing for my boards exam. I was busy with my studies when suddenly I heard a faint sound of meowing. Since my childhood I loved animals, especially cats and birds, and always tried to show my affection to them. That time too, I immediately turned around to search the source of that faint sound. I tried to replicate the sound, “Meow! Meow!” The cat responded and her volume increased as she approached near me. I was excited to see the kitty who responded to my calls. And then she appeared from behind the bushes.…

    What TUBERCULOSIS taught me!

‘Tuberculosis ’ a word which when heard everyone imagine about a weak person constantly coughing and waiting for his demise. Two decades ago, there was no treatment for it which obviously meant that a person infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis would definitely have a very painful end. Moreover it is a communicable disease, so was and even is a taboo in itself. But thanks to the efforts put by World Health Organisation, a cure was invented because of which millions of people, including me, recovered back to their normal lives. Here I’m sharing my experience through this dis-ease. I joined my college in 2009 and the first semester went very well.…

The NAGGAR of Art – A Short Story

I was in 3rd or 4th standard when the school organised a trip to Naggar castle and Roerich Art Museum. I had no clue about them as I had never been to these places before. This excursion to a historical place opened up the gateways of curiosity in my mind, an urge to know more about past events, how aristocrats used to live then, how were the customs and the traditions, how people perceived about the world then and everything related to the past started attracting me towards it. A day before going to the picnic, I asked my father for a dress (after all these were the only times…

    December 7, 2006

It was the evening of 6th December 2006. I was finishing up my project model of Science that was to be submitted the next day for the practical exam in my school. I was preparing the model from many weeks. I made it with thermocol so the mess from the cutting was spread all over the floor of my room. I was trying to clean it with a broom but instead of wiping everything off, the broom helped those particles to spread more into the corners and everywhere even in the unreachable spaces. I was periodically checking out the time on the clock. The thermocol particles were making me impatient…

    Rise of a Nature Lover

One day I sat near my favorite vine of Kiwi, in my fields. I was having exams and I went there for studying. I was very poor in concentrating on studies those days and hence was just watching the tree. As I observed, the tree (or the plant) looked so amazing. The curves in its trunk, the pattern of the bark, the color of the leaves, hairs on its leaves, flowers, all were astounding. And then I thought, why didn’t I notice the beauty of the nature before. I was so obsessed that then I decided that I will definitely study what they are and how do they become like that. The more…

    A Village get-over

During our school days, we went for many picnics, hiking and tours in almost every standard. Most of them were one day excursions covering one or two spots in the nearby tourist area. I’m thankful that I am born in a tourist hotspot because of which I was able to visit most of the areas in very early age. The earliest picnic cum excursion that I remember was to our own village. I was in the nursery class, of the age of three or four and we were taken for the Polio vaccination plus picnic to the village. It was a different experience for me as I went to the…
